Matthew Gibson is a London-based teacher, composer and organist.
He is a graduate of Oxford University (The Queen's College) where he studied a degree in music and was also an organ scholar. Matthew holds a PGCE in Secondary Music from UCL's Institute of Education and is passionate about enabling success for as many young musicians as possible.
Matthew is currently Head of Academic Music at Streatham & Clapham High School (GDST) in London having previously been Director of Music at The Laurels School and Assistant Director of Music at The Cedars School. He has held teaching positions at Morpeth School, Tower Hamlets; St Michael's Grammar School, North Finchley; and Kimbolton School, Cambridgeshire.
As a composer, his works have been performed by the Villiers Quartet; London Sinfonietta; and BBC Singers. He has performed alongside the City of London Sinfonia; BBC Philharmonic; Oxford Philharmonic; The Hallé; as well as in numerous west end pit bands. Matthew's playing has been recorded on the Signum and Coro labels, as well as broadcast for BBC and Scala radio.
